New method for importing models into Tabletop Simulator.

Postby lumptruck » Fri Feb 12, 2021 8:00 am

So I finally got my paint job done on my miniature for Kingmaker, apparently lost the emails where we discussed all the model importation. So looking it all back up there was an update on the video. It adds a few more steps but it does allow you to keep full detail on the mini, no more need for decimating faces. Also it seems that Hero Forge has any mini file already setup to utilize this new method, there are tutorials on that as well. Basically the new way throws Unity into the mix. You'll have to download some of their stuff in order to through the process, but after seeing a decimated version vs. my old version, I felt like taking the extra steps. For those who went through Hero Forge I recommend utilizing their already premade files for unity as that process looks much faster.

So here is updated model import process:

I would recommend doing any editing to the miniature before starting this process, by taking the scaling down it makes it almost impossible to paint the object.

If you have your model from Hero Forge follow this tutorial, which is way easier.

So with using unity I found out I'd have to recolor him all over again, unless I find a way to put the texture file on him. SO just gonna use old version.
